Color treatments at Green Heads

What is the difference between plant dye and New Generation dyes?

Plant dye is a 100% natural and organic way to dye your hair. At Green Heads we use our own plant dye series Plants in Colour and Plants in Gloss, which consist of dried and ground plants such as henna, indigo, walnut, cassia and rhubarb root. Plant dye gives a covering, permanent but laser-like result where the hair's own nuances are visible. The color is nourishing, moisturizing and gives a lot of shine and depth.

New Generation colors are synthetic color systems that are approved within the Green Salon certification. At our salon, we work with BRUNS Color+ and Ingredient. They are gentle, protective and provide an even, lasting shine. They cover gray hair and are available in many shades, and can be colored in your own lightness or darker.

Both types of color are free from PPD, PTD, resorcinol, ammonia, perfume, silicones and phthalates, among other things.

The big difference is that:

  • Plant color is completely natural
  • New Generation paint is synthetically made

It is also faster to dye hair much darker with New Generation color and easier to add light highlights on top. Plant color requires longer exposure time for major color changes, and crazy colors are only possible with New Generation color.

What bleaches do you use and what is the difference?

We work with two types of lighting:

  • a traditional bleaching that is free from ammonia, ammonium persulfate and perfume
  • a natural brightening clay

The lightening clay gives natural beige and golden tones, while the traditional bleaching can also create cooler, clearer tones. Together we choose the method depending on your hair, desired result and how gentle the treatment you need.

What is the difference between plant dye and clay?

Vegetable dye is used to color the hair, giving shade, depth and shine.
Lightening clay is used to lighten hair, much like a milder bleaching.

Plant dye cannot bleach hair light, but instead places color pigments around the hair shaft. The clay instead gently opens up the color in the hair and provides a softer lightening.

Can I dye my hair while pregnant?

Yes, it is okay to dye your hair with us when you are pregnant. Our plant dyes are completely natural and the New Generation dyes are approved by Grön Salong, which means that they do not contain substances that are known to be harmful or highly allergenic. However, sensitivity can increase during pregnancy, so we always adapt the treatment to how you feel.

Which sling package suits my needs?

We offer three loop packages – Small, Medium and Large – and choose the package according to how much hair needs to be lightened.

  • Small: Loops in the growth around the roots and legs. Choose this treatment when you want to hide the "shop window".
  • Medium: top hair and sides
  • Large: all hair

Hand-painted curls give a soft, natural result with less growth, while paper curls give more contrasting and brighter results.

Is there anything special I should consider before coloring?

Before coloring with New Generation colors, we want you to come with clean and dry hair for best adhesion. Dry shampoo and colored powders need to be washed off before your visit. Washing and blow-drying before color treatment is not included in the treatment time, so if needed, extra time and cost must be added.
